Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2022 Toyota Tundra- Video

How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller on our 2022 Toyota Tundra. Adding a brake controller to your vehicle is gonna allow you to have additional safety and control of your trailer. And adding a wireless device like the Curt Echo is gonna allow you to have that control without having to manually wire anything into the system. The traditional box-style brake controller, you know, has the nickname knee-knocker 'cause they're usually mounted in that position where it would interfere with where your leg clearance is. Alternatively, we have some that are gonna be minimally invasive, like the REDARC where it's just a knob on your dash, but that installation does require a little bit more and it is permanent. So if you have multiple trailers or trucks or you have a leased truck where you can't make those permanent changes, the Curt Echo is gonna be a great option to allow you to have brakes on your trailer and control it using your Bluetooth device. more

Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2015 Toyota Tundra- Video

Rob: How's it going everybody Rob here at etrailer.com and today we're going to be taking a look at the Tekonsha P3 Trailer Brake Controller on our 2015 Toyota Tundra. Here's what our brake controller looks like once it's installed and we chose to mount ours on the right-hand side of the steering wheel, just so we could see it pretty easily when we're driving and we have access to everything we need to. This is what we consider a traditional style brake controller, because it is going to be a box that has to mount on the dash.There are a lot more newer styles that are coming out where either is a remote style mounting system, where it's not mounted on the dash, or a very small button or dial that's mounted on the dash rather than such a big box. But with this being a traditional style brake controller, it's still is a really nice, very good functioning brake controller. Partially because it's a proportional brake controller. What that means is that when we push on the brakes in our Tundra, it's going to apply the brakes to our trailer in the same time and intensity. more

Today on our 2004 Toyota Tundra we're going to be taking a look at the Curt Echo. This is a proportional brake controller designed to work with one or two axles. Now, the Echo's going to come in really handy for a lot of different situations. Maybe you're not very mechanically inclined and you don't want to go through the install process of a traditional brake controller. This simply plugs in between our truck and our trailer, gives us everything we need, works like a traditional brake controller would, using our smart phone. Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2007 Toyota Tundra 39510- Video

Speaker 1: Today on our 2007 Toyota Tundra, we're going to be taking a look at, and showing you how to install the Tekonsha Voyager proportional trailer brake controller for one to four axles, part number 39510.To help us get that installed, we're going to be using the Tekonsha plug-in wiring adaptor, part number 3040-P.This is what our brake controller looks like when it's installed. This is going to be a proportional brake controller. What that means is it's going to have a sensor inside that going to detect the deceleration of your Tundra, and it's going to send the appropriate amount of force to our trailer brakes. For instance, if we're in an emergency situation and we have to slam on our brakes in our truck, the sensor is going to immediately send that signal to our trailer brakes to match the amount of force being applied so that our trailer can slow itself down, in turn saving the Tundra's brakes, because it's not going to have to slow or stop both the truck and the trailer.Now this is going to be a pretty simple, straight-forward brake controller. It's not going to have any screens or anything like that to look at. It simply has a light that will change colors depending on how you have it set.This know here on the right, this is going to be your gain. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2007 Toyota Tundra, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha Primus IQ trailer brake controller for one to three axle, part number TK90160. To help us get that installed, we're going to be using the Tekonsha plugin wiring adapter, part number 3040-P.This is what our brake controller looks like when it's installed. What this is going to be good for is this is going to help you apply brakes to your trailer while you're traveling, in turn saving the brakes on your truck. This is going to be a proportional brake controller which means that the braking force applied in the truck will be matched on the trailer. For instance if we have a quick braking situation and you apply the brakes in your truck, the same amount of force will be applied to the trailer brakes so that the trailer will stop itself instead of the truck having to stop both.Now how this is going to differ from a time delayed, on a time delayed brake controller, when you apply the brakes in the truck it's going to take a few seconds for the brakes to be applied in the trailer. Draw-Tite I-Command Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2005 Toyota Tundra- Video

Speaker 1: Today on our 2005 Toyota Tundra, we're gonna be taking a look at, showing you how to install, the Draw-Tite I-Command Trailer Brake Controller, for 1 to 4 Axles, part number 5535. Now, to help us in our installation we're also gonna be using the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers for Toyotas and Lexuses, part number 3040-P.So here's what our break controller looks like when it's fully installed. Now, our break controller is proportional, which means it's gonna apply our trailer breaks in the same intensity that our vehicle is slowing down. It's gonna do that because there's an inertia sensor inside, so when our vehicle starts to slow down, that sensor is gonna realize how much we're slowing down, apply our trailer breaks accordingly. Now, it's also gonna feature a manual override, in case you ever need to have a time where you need to apply the trailer brakes without applying the brakes on your truck. You can grab this lever, and if we start rotating it to the side, it will apply the maximum amount of breaks if we have it all the way over.Now, our gain setting is gonna be these gray buttons right here, and it's gonna max out at 10, and will go all the way down to zero. more

The Primus IQ is a proportional braking system. What that means is it uses a sensor located inside to detect the braking force that's coming from our truck. Today on our 2015 Toyota Tundra we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Proportional Trailer Brake Controller. Works great for one up to four axles, part number on it is 90885. We're also going to be using the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for electronic brake controllers, part number on that, 3017-P. The P2 also offers safeguards built right in to the system to protect your vehicle, your trailer, and the brake controller itself. It defends the brake controller and trailer brake-away system system against shorts. It's going to help to prevent any overheating we might experience on those long stops by slowly reducing the power output going to the brakes, and it also minimizes the drain on the battery. When not in use it only draws 3.6 mA. The P2's going to be an excellent choice in brake controllers. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2014 Toyota Tundra- Video

Today on our 2014 Toyota Tundra, we'll be installing the Hopkins InSIGHT Flex-Mount Break Controller, part # HM47297. To install this break controller, we're also going to use the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Brake Wiring Adapter, part # HM47815. Now to begin our install, we'll first locate the manufacturers tow port so that we can plug our Direct-Fit Wiring Harness into it. Here on the driver's side kick panel behind the parking brake pedal, we can locate the manufacturers tow port. As you can see it's taped up to the main wiring harness, so I'm just going to use my utility knife to cut the tape and pull it free. Now that we've got the tow port free, we can take the white connector end of our Direct-Fit Wiring Harness, plug it directly into the manufacturers tow port. Next, we'll go ahead and route the four pull connector over to where we're going to mount the brake controller box. When routing your wires, stay away from any moving components such as the gas, brake, or emergency break pedal. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2013 Toyota Tundra- Video

Today, on our 2013 Toyota Tundra, we'll be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller, part number 90195. In conjunction with the Tekonsha Plug and Play Wiring Adapter, part number 3040-P. To begin our install, we'll first go ahead and mount the brake controller bracket. For this application, I'll be using a couple of self tapping screws or you can also use the screws provided with the brake controller install kit. Once we have the brake controller mounted, we'll then go ahead and set the brake controller in the bracket and secure it with the screws provided in the install kit. Next, we'll need to go ahead and plug in our Plug and Play Wiring Adapter. Before I install the wiring harness, I'm using black electrical tape to wrap up the wires to hold the ground wire to the harness and to clean up our install look. Now with the taped up, we'll go ahead and take the white connector and plug it into the manufacturer's towing port, that's located on the driver's side, just above the kick panel and between it and the parking brake pedal. Now, with that connection made, we'll take the white wire, with the pre-attached ring terminal, which should be the ground wire for our harness, and secure here it to a body ground, which our parking brake pedal bracket is grounded so we can use our self tapping screw and secure it directly to that. Now, with those connections made, we'll go ahead and route our wire back over to the brake controller and install it into the back of the brake controller. Now we have it routed and installed, I'll go ahead and use a couple of black zip ties to secure our wiring up underneath the dash, and then we'll cut off the excess from the zip ties to clean up our install look. Now with that, we're ready to hit the road. That's about it the install of the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller, part number 90195, in conjunction with the Tekonsha Plug and Play Wiring Adapter, part number 3040-P on our 2013 Toyota Tundra. . more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2006 Toyota Tundra- Video

Today, on our 2006 Toyota Tundra, we will be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 trailer brake controller, part number 90885. The first step for our install is locating the factory wiring harness for the tow package. This wiring harness was located on the drivers side kick-panel, back with all the factory wiring. You can see it electrical taped back on the corner. Well cut back the electrical tape and pull the harness out. After weve located the wiring we need, well proceed onto the ground. Here I use one of the factory bolts to attach my ground wire to. Just to help with installation I cut part of the hoop connector, just to help it thread in. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2012 Toyota Tundra- Video

Today in our 2012 Toyota Tundra, we'll be installing the Curt TriFlex Trailer Brake Controller part number C51140. We'll be using this in conjunction with the direct connect wiring harness part number C51362. To begin our install, we'll first locate the manufacturer's tow port located on the driver side just above the edge of the kick panel. We can then take the direct connect harness white plug end and plug directly into the manufacturer's tow port. We'll then go ahead and start routing the harness over towards the center of the vehicle near the console being careful to stay away from any moving parts, such as the parking brake pedal. Next, we need to mount the brake controller. To mount the brake controller, we'll use the brake controller bracket and hardware provided with the install kit. We'll go ahead and take the hardware and secure the bracket directly to the brake controller first. Then we can take the bracket and secure itto the dash using the hardware provided. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2002 Toyota Tundra- Video

Today on this 2002 Toyota Tundra, were going to install the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, part number 90885, and we are also going to use the install kit part number ETBC7. So our first step involved is to go ahead and remove the factory four pole wiring harness, and we are going to mount our 7 pole bracket to that. There are two screws we are going to remove right here, remove the bracket from the four pole as well. Were going to remove the two Phillip screws to free up the bracket from the four pole, there is one here and one on the other side. Now our 7 pole bracket just barely misses the two mounting holes on the factory bracket, so what we are going to do is actually drill these out to 3/8ths of an inch. They will get pretty thin on the side here, but it will be enough to hold everything together, it will be almost factory when we are done. more

Today on this 2010 Toyota Tundra we are going to install part number 90885-3040P. First thing we will do is show you where the port is on the vehicle, this has a factory tow package. It is going to be underneath the dash on the left hand side. First thing we are going to do is plug the adapter cord into the factory port right here.
